The International Law Association (ILA) Nigeria branch provides visionary leadership on international law in Nigeria. It is a leading platform and intellectual space for Nigerian scholars and practitioners to unearth, analyze and resolve important questions in public and private international law, international diplomacy, and global governance. Established in 2014, it is an offshoot of the ILA which was established in 1873.
The Branch’s activities are overseen by an Executive Council, consisting of the Branch President, Prof Damilola Olawuyi, SAN, FCArb; the Vice President, Oludayo Olorunfemi; the Secretary-General, Clement Osuya, FCArb, UK; the Director of Studies, Dr Adenike Akinsemolu; the Treasurer, Alex Oche; and the chairs of all committees.
The Office of the Director of Studies of the International Law Association – Nigerian Branch serves as the intellectual and academic anchor of the Association. We are dedicated to advancing the study, understanding, and practical application of international law in Nigeria and across Africa. Through strategic leadership, academic excellence, and global partnerships, this office designs and delivers executive education, professional training, and thought leadership initiatives that respond to the evolving legal landscape.
